The Dubai
Environment and Climate Change Authority was established under Law No. (11) of
2024, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – may
God protect him – which aims to promote sustainable development and strengthen
Dubai's position as a global leader in environmental protection and climate
action.
The
Authority is responsible for protecting the environment, preserving
environmental protected areas and enhancing the performance of natural
ecosystems. The Authority is also responsible for developing the key plans,
policies, and strategies related to climate change and food security and the
adoption of circular economy principles in the Emirate of Dubai, ensuring a
sustainable balance between economic growth and environmental preservation.
