Everyone is welcome at Expo 2020 Dubai.
It has grown from a single idea: That when we come together, extraordinary things happen.
Better ideas, better experiences, a better future for all.
Expo 2020's main theme, 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future', epitomises this belief that innovation and progress are the result of people of different backgrounds from around the world coming together and sharing ideas.
Even in today's fast-moving, digital world, we believe that face-to-face, human contact can and will make a meaningful, lasting difference.
This is the first World Expo to be staged in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region and it is following a long and illustrious history of 'making a difference' to the world's progress.
World Expos have been driving innovation since the first in London 167 years ago. The Eiffel Tower, television, IMAX films and even ice cream cones and tomato ketchup, among many examples, were all first unveiled at World Expos.
Expo 2020 Dubai will have more than its share of exciting, ground-breaking innovations too. But is about so much more than just that.
It will be a place where people can come to have fun, learn, and be inspired and empowered – whether you're nine or 90.
This Expo promises to be the most inclusive ever. From October 2020 to April 2021, it will host around 25 million visits of which 70 percent will come from outside the UAE – the highest percentage yet for a World Expo.
This will be an Expo for the world with more than 180 countries represented, showing off the best of what they have to offer in their own pavilion
It is also ideally placed for its global visitors. More than two-thirds of the world live within an eight-hour flight away from Dubai and Expo 2020 will take place on a 4.38-sqkm site in Dubai South, adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport.
The Expo Masterplan will feature three Thematic Districts that reflect Expo 2020's subthemes: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
Al Wasl Plaza, named after the Arabic term for 'connection', will act as the site's centrepiece. In addition to linking Expo 2020's Thematic Districts, it will be home to a huge domed trellis that will loom over thousands of visitors and double as an immersive 360-degree projection surface for world class entertainment acts.
Expo 2020 will provide a space to create and renew connections, to be wowed by the events programme and to do business. It will strengthen the economy of the Middle East, showcase Arab culture on the international stage, and enable the greatest minds in the world – and the rest of us – to come together to overcome the most significant challenges of our time.
The conclusion of Expo 2020 in 2021 will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the UAE, a country whose rapid development has continued to redefine what is possible. Through Expo 2020, the UAE will inspire the next generation and spark more innovations and new thinking that underpin the coming 50 years of human progress.
